Andy Smith
Andy Smith, President,
Brothers United Who Dare To Care has been instrumental in
steering it from a grassroots organization that was focused on
social change for African Americans to a group working to include
all minority concerns. He formed the “Minority Affairs &
Diversity Education” program to impact minority disparities and
promote community diversity.
He is the editor of the community newsletter “Speak UP” the
first Black news publication to be distributed in Hagerstown,
Maryland. He also serves as the Project Director and grant
writer for Brothers United Who Dare To Care. He manages
grant-funded programs, such as the Minority Outreach &
Technical Assistance office in Washington County for the State of
Maryland.
He is the founder of the Hagerstown Public Access Corporation, a
non-profit organization created to get a Public Access Television
channel in place for citizens of the Hagerstown area.
He worked as an Information Technology professional in the
Washington D.C. metropolitan area managing high profile tasks and
assignments at Federal government sites.
He is a board member of the Being Human Party.
He is a support member of Many Individuals Helping Individuals
(MIHI) and a volunteer at the Western Maryland Hospital. He
participated on the planning committee for the Western Maryland
Fatherhood Initiative through the Washington County Department of
Social Services.
He has a degree in Education and also studied Psychology and
Communications.
